7 Ways to Detox Easily
So many people set a goal of weight loss this time of year. However, This is the worst time of year to set that goal. Using the spring equinox to jumpstart this instead of the hibernation mode of winter would be better.
That said, the most important thing that people miss about weight loss is toxic burden and toxic load. Your liver has to process everything. When it becomes overwhelmed, it stores toxins in fat cells to protect your life.
So how do you detox?
1. Water
I can not stress enough how important water is. Your body is 70% water. This discs in your spine 87% water. Healthy bodies are Hydrated bodies.
You should start your day with 8-16 ounces of warm water with Lemon, Ginger and turmeric. This helps flush the body of the toxins processed overnight. Helps decrease inflammation, and sets the body up for hydration. You can add 1/8th tsp of sea salt or sugar free electrolytes as well if you'd like. I would recommend saving electrolytes for the next 16 ounces though.
2. Sleep
You can not detox If you DO NOT SLEEP. 7-9 hours minimum
Set a sleep routine. Stop electronics after 5 pm. Wear blue light blocking glasses after 1 pm. Stop eating 3 hours prior to bed. Journal 15 min before bed to Brain dump. Deep breathing.
Go to bed every night at the same time when possible. ALWAYS get up at the same time.
Take 10-20 min naps before 2pm.
3. Poop at least 2 times a day
What? yes. POOP. Think about this. If you have had a child, how many dirty diapers did you change prior to introducing crackers, bread, and processed foods to the nutrition plan?
A normal gut transit time from entrance to the mouth to exit is 14 hours. 12-16 hours is reasonable. This means if you eat dinner at 6 pm, it should exit the system no later than 10 am the next day. Eat lunch at noon? somewhere between 4-6 am you want to have a bowel movement.
Not Pooping daily IS CONSTIPATION
It is Toxification of the system.
It is Keeping you FAT.
How can you change your poop cycle? Better, less processed foods, hydration, some supplements may help
4. Fasting
I have had a lot of questions around this lately.
Here is the Deal: HORMONES PLAY A ROLE
Everyone should fast for at least 12 hours a day every day.
But how long should you personally fast? That is dependent on your adrenal function and gut function. A simple questionnaire can help us determine your need to fast for what period of time. But here's a simple trick: If you need sugar, a snack of any kind, or caffeine after lunch your adrenals need support and should not fast more than 14 hours at a time.
5. Don't have caffeine until food is in
Your Body needs time to adapt. To Reset. In order to do this, you can not add a stimulant first thing. Your best time of day to eat and intake caffeine is from 2 hours after you are awake to 10 hours after you are awake.
6 am Wake Up
8 am Eat Veggies, protein Fruit and drink 6 oz caffeine with adaptogens
2-4pm Eat final meal of the day protein Veggie Fruit
Don't use coffee or tea or energy drinks on empty stomach.
6. MOVE YOUR BODY
Movement is what you were designed for. Your movement affects digestion. The more that you move, the better your digestion. It doesn't need to be big. research actually shoes that 2-3 15 min walks a day are all you need to lower cholesterol, improve memory, lower blood pressure and stabilize blood sugar.
